With a heart for the Jewish and Christian communities and beyond, Lev Shelo has developed their own style and formula for serving up tasty, contemporary pieces that are sure to appeal to a wide audience. How fitting that the name, "Lev Shelo" means "His heart". “We set out to make music that is palatable and purposeful, danceable and worshipful. Some songs are covers that we love and wanted to put a little edginess to, while others are traditional Jewish pieces that we feel are endearing to our past generations and needed to be revived and renewed for this present and all future generations,” says lead singer, Corry Bell. “Our love for Jewish music took us on a journey back to the synagogue life with such songwriters as Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, (of blessed memory), and his love for Torah and people of all faiths and backgrounds.”

When it comes to good old-fashioned rock-n-roll, the band just couldn't resist the classic organ sound layered in with acoustic and electric guitars. One element of their sound that is most unique is their frequent "conversations" between the acoustic lead, violin and vocal parts. They discovered this amazing and most enjoyable relationship during their frequent appearances making this a natural trademark of the band. Many of the contributing songwriters on the project are Israeli citizens who love the Land and G-d's people and serve in congregations there. Lev Shelo hopes to honor their work with their interpretations of their creations. Or HaOlam, meaning, "Light of the World" (from Isaiah 49:6) in Hebrew, speaks of the hope that there is Light in the darkness around us. What better way to express this than with music?! And what better way to teach the world with the good news of the One who brought that Light into the world?
